What is a Christian Boarding School?

Christian boarding schools offer families programs specifically for children and adolescents to live and study at school full-time.

We have found that the majority of Christian boarding schools (CBSs) are private schools which means they are not state-funded. Typically, families pay for their child’s tuition and room and board.

However, there are a number of schools that are non-profit offer reduced tuition. They are able to do that because of donations and grants. Many schools also offer scholarship opportunities and financial aid assistance.

CBSs may work with you so that your insurance covers some of the cost of medical or mental health care at the school.

A large majority of CBSs are a type of therapeutic boarding school that helps children with mental health or behavior issues. Check out our guide on therapeutic boarding schools and how to choose the best one for your youth to make sure you know what to look for when examining each of these schools to see if they are the right fit for your child.

Here is a list of therapeutic boarding schools by state.

Because they teach or were founded on Biblical principles, the schools in this list are considered Christian schools. Students do not need to be Christian in order to attend the school.

Consider one of these schools if you are looking for a residential program that provides the Christian support and care your child needs.
