Is Treatment Effective for Children with Sexual Problems?
Yes, treatment outcomes have proven successful for children with inappropriate sexual behavior.
Children with delinquent sexualized behavior who receive treatment have a much higher success rate than adults who sexually abuse others. The goal is to find a treatment program that is appropriate to the needs of the child and to start treatment as soon as possible. Providing safe supervision during treatment is also critical to overall success rates.
While residential treatment for sexual behavior is available in some states, most children can receive treatment in an outpatient setting and continue to remain in the home as long as proper supervision is provided during treatment.
Someone is not considered a “sex offender” unless they are an adult who has been charged with a sexual crime.

This is an intensive program, with therapists being on call 24/7 for crisis management and meeting with families in the community (typically in their homes). MST–PSB is highly focused on safety planning in order to prevent further instances of PSB.

Youth Home, Inc. in Little Rock, Arkansas is a residential treatment facility that offers several specialty tracks. One of which is for sexually reactive youth called Safe Solutions.
