What is a Christian Boarding School?
Christian boarding schools offer the opportunity for children, teenagers and young adults to live full-time at the school they choose to attend.
It is common for parents to pay for their child’s tuition, plus room and board, because most Christian boarding schools (CSBs) are private schools and are not state funded. However, there are several schools that are non-profit, and fees are greatly reduced because of donations and fundraising. Several schools provide grants or scholarships, too.
While not all the fees will be covered, some CBSs work with you so that your insurance covers some of the cost of medical or mental health care at the school.
The majority (but not all) CBSs are a type of therapeutic boarding school that helps children with mental health or behavioral issues. Holbrook Indian School in Holbrook
Holbrook Indian School (HIS) is a boarding academy providing Native American children and youth in 1st – 12th grade a safe place to live and learn. HIS is operated by the Pacific Union Conference of the Seventh-day Adventist church.
HIS also offers a day school. Chinle Adventist Elementary School (CAES) is a 1st – 8th grade elementary school located on the Navajo Reservation in Chinle, Arizona. Chinle day school serves as an alternative for elementary school children who do not wish to be away from home.
HIS seeks to preserve Native American culture by teaching the traditions of pottery making, Navajo language, history, and government. Along with math, English, science, and history, HIS offers vocational classes with practical applications such as welding, auto mechanics, woodworking, and horsemanship.
HIS nurtures the creative spirit of each student by teaching them how to express themselves through art, graphic design, and photography.

Sunshine Acres Children’s Home in Mesa
Sunshine Acres Children’s Home accepts children between the ages of 5 and 15. Whatever the reason for admission, a child can stay as long as he or she needs a home, even through college. They do not turn away children for financial reasons and are licensed by the state of Arizona.
Children come to Sunshine Acres for a number of reasons. Some have parents in prison, while others have a parent who is too ill to care for the child. The family could be homeless or the child has been living with grandparents who find it difficult to care for their grandchildren.
Sunshine Acres is not a treatment facility, and children admitted must meet the following requirements: no current drug or alcohol dependencies, no history of sexual perpetration, and no history of suicidal, homicidal, arson, or other serious criminal behaviors.

Thunderbird Adventist Academy in Scottsdale
Thunderbird Adventist Academy is a private Seventh-day Adventist Christian high school and boarding academy in Scottsdale, Arizona. It is a part of the Seventh-day Adventist education system.
Thunderbird Adventist Academy strives to promote a balanced life by teaching classes that prepare students for future goals. In addition, they offer spiritual and practical programs that encourage students to become people who excel.
Tuition is approximately $20,000 per year plus fees. There is a family discount for multiple children enrolled. There are limited scholarships available. Students may work during summers, spending 8-12 weeks working and earn a substantial amount toward school expenses.

Teen Challenge Programs in Arizona
The following four schools are part of the nationwide Teen Challenge program.
Christian Life Ranch in Phoenix (Teen Challenge)
This program is for adult men ages 18 years or older who have completed their initial recovery phase and studies at one of the Teen Challenge of Arizona induction centers. This next phase is when they then move to The Christian Life Ranch for the continued training phase of the program.
During this time, they will be involved in educational studies and vocational training, as well as continuing to grow in the love and freedom of Christ.

Greater Phoenix Teen Challenge in Phoenix
Teen Challenge in Phoenix offers men ages 18 and up a residential recovery program. New members of Teen Challenge spend the first few months learning about the love and grace of God, and how to find freedom from their addictions by following Christ.
They participate in classroom studies, group and individual mentoring programs, work studies, chapel services, and various types of community outreach and fundraising events.

Springboard Home for Youth in Tucson (Teen Challenge)
Teen Challenge’s Springboard Home for Girls is a Christian 3-6 month residential shelter for girls ages 12-17 and is licensed through the Arizona Department of Child Safety.
Their focus every day is on the lasting transformation of hearts, attitudes, thoughts, habits, and character. During the student’s stay, the goal is to see them equipped for a successful future in all aspects of their lives.
The total program cost for each student is $24,500; however, they do not turn anyone away based on finances. Scholarships are available.
